No Save Corruption – No Save Corruption (or NSC) is something that exists in the world of Pokémon speedrunning and I can imagine isn’t limited to Pokémon, but the terminology may be different. There are multiple variations of glitched runs that can occur for a single game depending on what glitches are allowed in a run. Most Any% runs include glitches and usually have glitchless categories as well, which gets defined as Any% Glitchless. Glitched – As opposed to glitchless, there are glitched runs and are usually categorized as your typical Any% runs.

General rule of thumb is that it doesn’t skip major portions of the game or you’re not “recoding” the game. However, some things in a game that some people consider to be glitches can be used, such as skipping the need for the Silph Scope in Generation 1 Pokémon speedrunning. Glitchless – Perhaps one of the most ambiguous terms in speedrunning, glitchless on its own implies that no game breaking glitches can be used. Sometimes includes glitches that trigger flags for collecting things without necessarily collecting them. Examples of >100% categories include Crash Bandicoot 3 105%, Spyro the Dragon 120%, and Crash Bash 200%. Depending on secrets in a game, one can get more than 100% in a game and you must complete everything in the game. ≥100% – 100%, or greater variations of 100%, are the collect ’em all categories. It’s not necessarily the fastest form of a game, but adds a higher difficulty to the game.
POKEMON FIRE RED RANDOMIZER SPEEDRUN UPGRADE
There are a few games where Low% exists and usually involves games where you never upgrade anything that would count toward your completion percentage, while still completing the game. Low% – Low% is the lowest percentage that you can possibly complete the game with. Hopefully I can clear up some of these terms by giving you guys a short list of some of the most common speedrunning categories and terms out there.Īny% – Any% is defined as completing the game with any amount of completion, usually the most straightforward path from start to finish. So, when I say the words “Any% Glitchless”, one might get a tad confused because things don’t necessarily mean what you think they mean. So stick around, grab yourself a beverage, and get comfy. To those who haven’t been around the speedrunning community much, you may not understand all of the lingo, and I plan on going over that too. So today, I’d like to take you guys on a trip into one of my favorite speedruns of all-time: Pokémon Red/Blue Any% Glitchless. I got myself 86 fishing last night as well off stream so I could complete a leg of those effigies, but now I have to work myself toward a higher crafting and construction level to finish them. Our evening Graardor trip ended in 64 kills, no Bandos items, but two effigies to add to the one I got earlier this week, so not too shabby.

I’ve heard through the grapevine that we’re in for 5-8 inches of snow on Saturday, so to all of my New England friends, be safe, whether you’re walking to a Dining Common on a campus or driving to a PPTQ four towns over.įor those of you who follow me on Twitch, you know that I did a stream around 8pm EST last night and I want to thank everyone who came out to watch. Around here, from the sounds of it, it’s not necessarily a great thing. Happy Thursday to all of you wonderful people! The weekend is almost here, which is either a good thing or a bad thing depending on where you live. Good morning In-ter-net (a la Robin Williams in Good Morning Vietnam),
